OK, no actual hot dogs were used in the making of this recipe which was inspired by the peanut butter and jelly banana sandwiches I enjoyed as a kid. While your first thought might be that this is kind of gross, it is nothing more than a long peanut butter and banana sandwich (hey, if Elvis loved them how bad can they be?) that looks like a hot dog.  They are perfect for an after school snack or for dessert.  Cool looking and fun to eat!

Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, peeled

8 tablespoons creamy peanut butter

8 tablespoons strawberry (or seedless raspberry) jelly

4 hot dog buns (plain, not poppy seed)

Directions

Spread 2 tablespoons of peanut butter on each the inside of each bun.  Place peeled bananas in each bun, then top with a line of strawberry jelly.

Serve immediately.  This dish makes a perfect summer time or casual dessert that is sure to get lots of laughs and enjoyment from kids from ages 2 to 99.

For those who care, it’s entirely vegan too! Although, I’ll bet not many vegans would be visiting this site.
